Bulldog Swim/Dive Comes up Short against Orioles

The Brownsburg Swimming and Diving Team traveled to Avon on Tuesday night for a renewal of the crosstown rivalry with the Orioles. While the Bulldogs put up a spirited fight, they ultimately succumbed to the deeper Avon team. The Orioles bested the Bulldog girls 128-57 and took down the boys by a score of 124-62.
Senior captain Madeline Ketchem provided the highlight for the Bulldog girls, capturing first place in the 100 Butterfly. Ketchem also chipped in on a pair of runner up finishes in relay competition, teaming with juniors Grace Fulwider and Tia Scoggan and freshman Madison Kehr for second in the 200 Medley Relay, and teaming with Fulwider and juniors Delaney Krug and Chloe Wittig for second place in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
Fulwider (200 IM, 100 Breaststroke) and Wittig (500 Freestyle) recorded second place individual finishes, while Wittig teamed with senior Kristin Verpe, sophomore Kierra Watson and freshman Piper Lovett to finish second in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Two Bulldog boys took a run at the history books Tuesday, narrowly missing school records. Freshman Joe Myhre won the 100 Backstroke in 54.42, just short of the school record (Matt Perkins – 54.00) while sophomore Joe Ancel finished third in the 100 Breaststroke in 1:01.92, a tiny margin shy of the 1:01.78 record set by Jared Sadtler.
Ancel (200 Freestyle) and Myhre (100 Freestyle) picked up individual second place finishes against Avon, and teamed with junior Bradley Green and sophomore Diego La Torre for second in the 200 Medley Relay. Ancel and La Torre teamed with sophomore Kyle Baney and freshman Vince Partlow for second in the 200 Freestyle Relay, while Green, Myhre and Partlow teamed with junior Grant Anspach for second in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Individually, Baney (200 IM), Green (100 Butterfly) and Partlow (500 Freestyle) contributed second place finishes, as did senior Grason Horvath in diving.
The Bulldog Boys (1-1) and Girls (3-2) look to get back into the win column on Tuesday, December 11 at Pike, with a 5:30pm contest against the Red Devils! Please come out and support the team!
