Bulldogs Place 1st for Sixth Year in a Row

The boys track and field team traveled to Decatur Central Friday night where they competed in the Joe Schott Twilight Invitational. The Bulldogs finished in 1st place for the sixth year in a row, defeating 2nd place Warren Central by 29 points.

The boys began the evening by finishing 1st and 2nd in the discus. Devin Humes won the event throwing 149'5" while Reis Thomas took 2nd throwing a PR of 134'7". Humes also won the Shot Put, throwing 46'6" while Alan Yip finished 4th. In the long jump, Corey Griffen finished first with a jump of 20'7". Leigh Nutall also placed in the long jump finishing 5th. In the high jump, Richard Lang jumped 5'10" which was good for 3rd place. The field events concluded with the pole vault where Justin Garnett placed 3rd with a 10 foot vault and Matthew Albert placed 6th with a 9 foot vault.

On the track, the bulldogs had strong performances in all 3 relays. Nate Bess, Stuart Goedde, Alex Freeman, and Jared Hughes took second in the 4x800 meter relay. Stuart's 2:08 split in that relay was the fastest of the group and was a major PR. Leigh Nutall, Jon Hammond, Jack Parker, and Bryce Kirtz took second in the 4x100 meter relay. Jon Hammond, Jack Parker, Jacob Risser, and Shai Sumpter-Bey brought home a second place finish in the 4x400 meter relay. All three relay teams ran season bests. In the hurdles, Corey Griffen and Jaylon Keith took 1st and 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles. Corey ran 15.65 and Jaylon ran 16.53, both times are PR's. Later that evening, Corey and Jaylon took 3rd and 4th in the 300 meter hurdles. In the sprints, Sophomore Bryce Kirtz had a monster night. Bryce took 2nd in both the 100 and 200 meter dash running 11.1 and 22.33, both of which are PR's and both of which are very close to school records. Shai Sumpter-Bey finished 4th in the 200 running 23.23, a major PR for the sophomore. Jack Parker finished 3rd in the 400 running 53.38 which was PR for Jack. Jacob Risser also placed in the 400 taking 8th place. In the distance events, Josh Limbil finished 8th in the 1600 running a PR 4:54. Nate Bess and Jared Hughes took 4th and 6th in the 800 meter run. Charles Voglewede won the 3200 meter run in a time of 10:17 and Stuart Goedde took 2nd running a PR of 10:24.

The Bulldogs will travel to Mooresville next weekend to take on Mooresville and Plainfield.
