Dogs Go 2-1 In Zionsville Invite

The boys' varsity tennis team participated in the Zionsville Invitational on Saturday and came away with two spectacular wins.  In the first round of play, the Bulldogs defeated #21 Zionsville 4-1.  All three singles players, Sam Gentry, Jon Class, and Sam Peterson brought in huge victories.  Peterson clinched the match with the win at the three spot.  The doubles team of Todd Clark and Michael Clemens had a sweet straight set win to put the Bulldogs score at 4. 

In the second round, the Bulldogs ran into #1-ranked Carmel and fell 5-0 to the top squad.  The 'Dogs competed well on all courts.  Jon Class played an incredible match at two singles and forced his opponent to play a lengthy second set. 

In the final round of the day, the 'Dogs defeated Floyd Central, a tennis powerhouse team from the southern part of the state.  The 'Dogs scored a 4-1 victory.  The singles players of Gentry, Class, and Peterson all posted wins.  The number one doubles team of Nick Wilde and Nathan Mehringer had the exciting match of the afternoon, with a massive come-back win that actually clinched the match for the Bulldogs.
