Bulldogs Defeat Perry Meridian

Last Friday night against Perry Meridian was a tremendous success for your Brownsburg Varsity Football Team, with the Dogs winning 56-3 in dominating fashion.  There were many milestones set in this game, most importantly the Bulldogs notched their first ever 6A playoff win!  Additionally, Bryce Kirtz passed his older brother Tyler in the record books for first place in career touchdown receptions.  It was a great night all around.

The offense was outstanding, racing out to a touchdown on a 12 yard Bryce Kirtz TD run in the first 3 minutes of the game.  For the extra point, the Dogs got into a little "Big Dog Trickeration" when holder Ethan Harless flipped the ball to starting offensive lineman Mark Miller for a successful 2 point conversion and an 8-0 lead!  The Bulldogs never looked back, leading 15-0 at the end of the first quater, and 43-0 at halftime.  Bryce Kirtz was dominant, only touching the ball 5 times (all in the first half) and scoring 4TDs, adding touchdown receptions from Kyle Strakis of 22, 2, and 34 yards respectively.  Rounding out the scoring was Shai Sumpter-Bey with 2 TD runs, Ja'Shawn Keyes with a 7 yard run, and Ryus Moore with a "highlight reel" 41 yard TD run in the 4th quarter!   The Bulldog offensive attack was balanced, with 248 yards rushing and 143 yards passing on only 52 plays.

The defense was equally superb, getting great effort from nearly everyone but standout performances from LB Sevonte Sumpter-Bey, DT Ronnie Williams, and safety Cooper Mroz.  To say the Brownsburg defense was stifling would be an understatement.  The Falcons were limited to a meager 98 yards in total offense and zero touchdowns.  4 of the Perry Meridian rushers were held to negative yards, and their QBs only completed less than half of their pass attempts.  Special teams got into the actions with a blocked punt and good returns.

The biggest game of the year comes up this Friday in a battle with Avon for a sectional championship!!  Your Bulldogs thank you for your incredible support so far this season, but would love to see the biggest turnout ever for an away game this Friday.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone a few miles to the south.  Go Dogs!
