HCC Champs!

Your Brownsburg Bulldogs are back-to-back Hoosier Crossroads Conference Champions, winning 35-16 on Friday night at home in front of a "pink out" crowd for Crucial Catch against Hamilton Southeastern!  The win brought the Dogs final regular season record to 5-1 in conference, and 7-2 overall.

The game started off slowly, with Hamilton Southeastern scoring a long TD run on the first play from scrimmage to go up 7-0.  However, senior Dequincy (Duke) Davis got the Dogs back to a 7-7 tie with a terrific 65 yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter.

The offense finally got going in the 2nd quarter with a pair of touchdowns.  The first was a 36 yard pass from senior Kyle Strakis to junior Bryce Kirtz and the second was a 4 yard TD run from Senior RJ Decker.  In the 3rd quarter the Dogs got another TD with a spectacular scramble from  Strakis, where he first rolled to his left, then stopped on a dime and started running back right, before heaving the ball into the end zone where senior Armonte Carter went up high to get the TD reception.  Bryce Kirtz capped off the scoring with a TD reception from Strakis.  On the night the Dogs rushed for 190 yards and passed for another 175 yards.

After that initial big play, the Dog defense buckled down and stifled the Royal offense.  The Dogs limited the Royals to 95 yards rushing and a paltry 85 yards passing.  Antrez Baker again provided big play after big play, including a huge sack on 4th down late in the game.  The entire Bulldog defense deserves credit, with particularly strong defense against the pass by sophomore Isaiah Higgins

Friday night was also Senior Night, where we honored and appreciated our strong senior class for their dedication and leadership.  It should be noted that this senior class has collected 2 straight conference championships, with a record of 15-3 (and counting) over the last 2 seasons!  Thank you seniors!

The Dogs are off this week preparing for the IHSAA State Football playoffs.  Please plan to cheer on The Dogs at home next week, October 27th in playoff action against the Perry Meridian Falcons!  Thank you for the tremendous support all season long!
