The 2017 football team opened up their season with a convincing win over the visiting panthers from Bloomington South. The next three scores came via TD passes from senior QB Kyle Strakis, one to Bryce Kirtz, then Dequincy Davis and finally, Leigh Nutall. The final score of the night from the offense came via a 5 yd run from Junior RB Shai Sumpter-Bey. The Bulldogs' special teams got into the scoring mix as well with a 45 yard punt return for a touchdown from Dequincy Davis and then a 95 yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Armon'te Carter in the 4th quarter. The defense was led by Nathan Walton, who had an interception, Antrez Baker with multiple tackles for a loss, and Isaiah Higgins who recorded a few pass breakups. The Dogs will look to move to 2-0 when they travel to Lawrence North next Friday for a 7:30 start.
