Girls' Cross Country Narrowly Misses Semi-State Birth

The girls' cross-country team ended its season Saturday at the regional competition with a bittersweet result. Bitter because the top five teams advance to the semistate, and the Lady Dogs tied Greencastle for the fifth and final spot, only to lose on the sixth runner tiebreaker by a single point. Cross-country races cannot be decided by any smaller margin. Sweet because Julia Popenfoose qualified individually for next weekend's semistate by placing 13th overall, followed very closely by Cassidy Brown and Alison Hering. All three girls crushed their own personal records! Kyra Jo Gaerke and Brooke U'Ren also ran strong races to round out the team scores. The girls finished the season with a record of 90 wins and 54 losses. Great job, girls!
