Cross County Teams Finish Runner-Up at Southport Invite

The girls' and boys' cross-country teams were in action Saturday at the 14 - team Southport Invitational. Both teams ran extremely well, finishing as runners-up to Zionsville in each of the races.

The Lady Dogs were led once again by the duo of Julia Popenfoose and Cassidy Brown, finishing in the 5th and 8th places, respectively. Not to be outdone, Allison Hering and Mackenzie Vandersar had the biggest personal record time improvements on the day over the 3.1 mile distance! KJ Gaerke claimed the number five spot for the team.

The boys' team ran as tough as nails, with four of the seven varsity runners turning in personal record times. Justin Hays and Elliot Shaw ran to 2nd and 3rd place overall, followed by Mark Bond in 8th position. Sam Fellers and Jack Reed both had awesome races to round out the scoring positions for the Dogs. Seth Webster had a personal best in the varsity race, while Marcus Feriek, Devon Boone, James Goff, Zach Underwood, Ben Behrend, Brandon Britton, and Spencer Congram did so in the junior varsity race.
