Boys' and Girls' Cross Country are Champions at John Mitchell Invite

The boys' and girls' cross-country teams both claimed the championships of the John Mitchell Invitational at Cascade High School Saturday. The girls defended their 2011 victory by bettering second-place Mooresville by a single point! Leading the way for the lady Dogs was the fifth place of Julia Popenfoose. She was followed across the line by Cassidy Brown, KJ Gaerke, and Allison Hering.

The boys' cross country team also repeated last year's victory by easily outdistancing second-place by 40 points! Justin Hays once again led the Bulldog attack with a third-place finish, but he wasn't alone. Elliot Shaw was on his heels in fourth place, and the trio of Alek Minkis, Mark Bond, and Sam Fellers all finished within the top 10. The Bulldogs also dominated the JV race, with Alyse Mitchener claiming the girls' crown and Bradley Bowles, Joey Vonderahe, and Marcus Feriek going 1-2-3 in the boys' race.
