Cross Country Opens Season

The boys' cross-country team opened the 2015 season with the Kendall's Kickoff Hokum Karum at Mount Vernon High School against the host school and Fishers High School. The meet consisted of two runner teams alternating 1 mile repeats over a total race distance of 6 miles.

There were no team scores, but the highlight of the evening belonged to seniors Marcus Feriek and Hari Sathyamurthy. The pair traversed the course in just under 30 minutes, averaging under five minutes for each mile, but more importantly claimed the individual title out of approximately 50 pairs. Hari came from behind for a thrilling last lap pass of Mount Vernon's top pair!

Not to be left out, Brownsburg's next team of Noah Gossett and Devon Boone ran very strong races and crossed the line in 12th place. Also running well for the Bulldogs were Michael Breckler and the freshman crew of Bryce Dixon, Hayes Morrison, and Josh Limbil.

The Girls' Cross Country team got the season started off on a high note as they traveled to Mt. Vernon and picked up a nice win. Running a Hokum Karem race, for which partners each run two 1 mile segments, Sophomore Emily Truax and Freshman Gabby Bische were impressive as they cruised in to take 1st place overall in the race. Just behind were their teammates Senior Allison Hering and Freshman Faye Jessup. Rounding out the top 3 teams for the Bulldogs were the duo of Mackenzie Vondersaar and Brianna Channon. Also of note were great finishes from Grace Esterline, Rachel Graham, Olivia Zoog, and Laura Sanders. It was also a nice first ever cross country race by Mackenzie Barrett and Michaela Barrett. Congratulations to all of the girls on a job well done and a great start to the season!
