Boys and Girls XC Win Jon MItchell Invite

The boys' and girls' cross-country teams turned in outstanding performances Saturday in the Jon Mitchell Invitational at Cascade High School by claiming both championships comfortably over 11 other schools. The girls bested runner-up Eastern Greene by a score of 34 to 72, and the boys outran second-place Cascade 29 to 92. Sydney Lesko led the Bulldogs by claiming the individual championship, and Rachel Smith ran an excellent race to place third overall. Rounding out the top five scoring spots were Julia Popenfoose in eighth, Natalia Hay in 12th, and Cassidy Brown in 15th.

In the boys' race, the trio of Wyatt Rondot, Ben Hendricks, and Justin Hays ran to a three, four, five finish to lead the Dog attack, while Alek Minkis and Elliot Shaw were not far behind in ninth and tenth places. Mark Bond and Jack Reed lent some much-needed support with top 20 finishes as well. Sam Fellers, Seth Webster, and Joey Vonderahe took care of business in the JV race by sweeping the top three spots.
