Boys' Tennis Competes in Zionsville Invite

The varsity boys' tennis team had a busy weekend of tennis, playing against three solid tennis programs.  The Bulldogs began the day with a 4-1 victory over HCC rival, Zionsville.  Sam Gentry and Jon Class collected victories in singles play.  Both of the Doubles Duos of Michael Hartnagel/Nathan Mehringer and Michael Clemens/Todd Clark corraled the Eagles with huge wins to secure the team victory.  In the second match, the Bulldogs played #10-ranked Floyd Central and lost 3-2 in a closely contested match.  Sam Gentry and Jon Class had incredible wins in singles with both playing some of their best tennis of the season.  Our number one doubles team of Hartnagel and Mehringer lost a very, very tight match to a state caliber doubles team.  In the final match of the day, the Dogs ran into 2011 State Champion and #2-ranked Carmel and suffered a 5-0 defeat.  While the Bulldogs lost on all courts, Nick Wilde did a superb job battling and pushing his opponent.
