Boys' Tennis Grabs 2 Victories on the Weekend

The varsity boys' tennis team came home with two HCC victories after traveling to Lafayette on Saturday. In the morning match against McCutcheon, the Bulldogs shut out the young Mavericks 5-0 with huge wins on all courts. The Dogs did a great job of playing focused. Singles players Sam Gentry, Nick Wilde, and Jon Class did not lose a single game. Todd Clark and Michael Clemens had a big win at number one doubles, and Matt Irelan and Sam Peterson chalked up their first varsity win in their first varsity match at the number two spot! In the afternoon match, the Bulldogs defeated Harrison 4-1. Again, Sam Gentry had another terrific outing in the number one singles position, not dropping a single game! Jon Class, at the three spot, played a textbook match, forcing his opponent into many unforced errors. The number one doubles team of Michael Hartnagel and Nathan Mehringer came out strong and slammed the door on the opposition, offering them no opportunity to get into the match. The number two doubles team of Todd Clark and Michael Clemens battled and held in two tight sets to get the final point of the day.
