Several Girls Advance to Girls' Track Regional

The lady bulldogs track team beat all but one team last evening at the Plainfield Sectional.  Despite some strong performances on the night and many making it out to regional competition, the bulldogs came up short against a well balanced Avon team 123 to 107.

Sectional champions on the night were Sibong Ncube in the 100 meter hurdles in 15.54 and Laura Bess in the 1600 and 3200 meters in 5:07 and 11:23. Congratulations to Laura and Sibong on great performances!

Others who made it out to Regionals by placing in the top 4 were Sydney Lesko, KJ Gaerke, Cassidy Brown, and Rachel Smith 2nd in the 4x800 meter relay, Rocky Sulkoske 4th in the 100 meter hurdles, Tavon McCollum 2nd in the 400 meters,  Florence Akinribade, Briana Smith, Ncube, and Sulkoske 2nd in the 4x100 meter relay, Kerry Devney and Jolori Schafer 3rd and 4th in the 300 meter hurdles, Akinribade 3rd in the 200 meters, Rachel Smith 2nd in the 800 meters, Lesko 4th in the 3200 meters, and McCollum, Morgan Weller, Lauren Markovich, and Sulkoske 2nd in the 4x400 meter relay.  Julia Popenfoose placed 6th place in the 1600 while Gaerke placed 7th in the 800.  On the field events side, Devney placed 7th in the long jump and Schafer placed 7th in the pole vault.

The ladies travel to West Lafayette on Tuesday, May 22nd to compete in the Regional meet.
