Girls' Track Places 3rd

The Lady Bulldogs track team traveled to Decatur Central Friday night for the annual Twilight Invitational.  The ladies finished third out of seven teams scoring 99 points to Avon's 116.5 and Ben Davis's 118.
 

Sibong Ncube was the lone event winner on the night taking honors in the 100 meter hurdles in 16.48. Following Ncube closely in the hurdle race to complete the one, two sweep was Rocky Sulkoske. Sulkoske was also part of the 4x400 relay team of Tavon McCollum, Morgan Weller, and Chloe Dygert that finished in second!  Others who performed well on the night were Kerry Devney and Jolori Schafer going two, three in the 300 hurdles while Dygert and McCollum went three, four in the 400 meters. Veronica Goduto and Florence Akinribade also came through in the 200 meters finishing in third and fourth.  Rounding out scoring in the sprints, Akinribade, Monique Burnes, Ncube, and Sulkoske posted a season best time of 52 in the 4x100 to take third!

In the field events, Ncube brought home fourth place with a jump of 5 feet while Devney placed fifth in the long jump at 13'10".

Down three of its top runners on the night, the distance crew came through in a big way to score valuable points on the night!  The 4x800 relay team of KJ Gaerke, Cassidy Brown, Hannah Linville, and Rachel Smith finished a strong third while Smith, Jill Zimmerman, and Gaerke went four, five, and six in the 1600 meters.  The 800 meter run also saw strong finishes from Smith and Gaerke who went two and five!  Rounding out a strong night for the ladies was Brown in the 3200 who placed third.

Kudos to Laura Bess and Sydney Lesko who participated in the Miracle Mile at Franklin Central High School among the top 1600 meter runners in the state!  Both girls posted season best times with Bess going 5:05 and Lesko 5:34!
