Girls' & Boys' Track Competes Against Westfield

With 132 points possible in a dual meet, the Lady Bulldogs track team split them right down the middle with Westfield last evening! Down five points going into the final event of the night, the 4x400 relay team of Tavon McCollum, Morgan Weller, Rocky Sulkoske, and Chloe Dygert came through in a time of 4:14 to win it! Others who won events on the night were Sibong Ncube in the 100 meter hurdles in 15.7, Laura Bess in the 1600 in 5:17, Tavon McCollum in the 400 in a time of 1:04, Kerry Devney in the 300 meter hurdles in 49, Bess in the 800 meters in 2:23, Florence Akinribade in the 200 in 27.5, and Jolori Schafer tied for first in the pole vault going six feet. A balanced team effort saw contributions from Shay Roberson and Mandy Holbrook in the shot and disc, Sulkoske in the 100 meter hurdles, Breanna Smith in the 100 meters, Sydney Lesko in the 1600 and 3200 meters, Weller in the 400 meters, Monique Burnes and Schafer in the 300 hurdles, Julia Popenfoose in the 800 meters, and Lauren Marcovich in the 200 meters. 

The boys' track squad opened up the outdoor season yesterday with a loss to the Westfield Shamrocks by the score of 82-50. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs had many strong performances. Leading the way was the double individual event winner Blakelynn Green, earning the blue ribbon in the long jump and 200 meter dash. Latrelle Bandstra sprinted to victory in the 100 meter dash, David LaPerle cleared 12 feet 6 inches en route to winning the pole vault, DeVon Grundy was the winner in the shot put, and Ben Hendricks and Justin Hays ran away with victories in the 800 and 3200 meter runs, respectively. The 3200 meter relay team of Hendricks, Elliott Shaw, Hayes, and Wyatt Rondot also cruised to an easy win. Other team members who placed in the meet were:
