No.11/18 @bhsdogsghoops in search of IHSAA Sectional crown this weekend

IHSAA Girls' Basketball Sectional 12 is down to just four teams as Avon, Brownsburg, Plainfield and Terre Haute South all look to win a Sectional crown this weekend at Plainfield High School. The Brownsburg varsity girls' basketball team will take on Terre Haute South Friday night for a trip to the Sectional final on Saturday.

Avon and Plainfield will meet prior to the Bulldogs' game on Friday.  

Brownsburg comes into the weekend with an 18-8 record this year (5-2 in Hoosier Crossroads Conference).

     Bulldog Bits

  • Brownsburg defeated Mooresville 51-42 on Tuesday to advance to the Sectional Semi-Final round
  • The win over Mooresville was Brownsburg's six consecutive victory in the IHSAA Sectional Quarter-final round
  • Allison Bosse shot 8-for-12 from the field (5-for-7 from three) in the Bulldogs' win against Mooresville
  • Brownsburg is looking to win its third IHSAA Girls' Basketball Sectional championship in the last four seasons; it would mark the first time since 1991 that the Bulldogs have done so
  • Brownsburg is riding a four-game win streak against its opponent on Friday night, Terre Haute South

About the Orioles

  • 11-12 record this season (2-5 in Hoosier Crossroads Conference).
  • Haley Nichols (14.6 ppg and 9.4 rpg) and Alex Richard (11.6 ppg and 8.8 rpg) are the leaders for the Orioles
  • Orioles are the second-leading rebounding team in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference
  • Last won a Sectional title in 1993

About the Quakers

  • 12-11 record (5-2 in Mid-State Conference)
  • 5-foot-10 sophomore Ellie Wilkerson (14.3 ppg) leads the Quakers
  • Plainfield is the highest scoring team in the Mid-State Conference
  • Looking to win first Sectional title since 2016

About the Braves

  • 8-5 record this year (1-4 in Conference Indiana)
  • Led by Zayda Hatfield who averages 18.6 ppg and 6.6 rpg
  • Hatfield shoots 44 percent from behind the arc and is the leading scorer in Conference Indiana
  • Most recent Sectional title came in 2002

     Up Next

The winner of IHSAA Sectional 12 will head to the IHSAA Regional at Decatur Central next Saturday. The Sectionals at Arsenal Tech, Richmond and Pike also feed into that same Regional.
