No. 9/9 @bhsdogsghoops set for games against Mooresville and Noblesville this week

The Brownsburg girls' basketball team will continue their 2019-2020 slate with a pair of games this week. The Bulldogs will host Mooresville tonight before traveling to Noblesville on Friday night for their first Hoosier Crossroads Conference game of the season.

The Bulldogs come into the week with a 4-1 record.

     Bulldog Bits

  • Brownsburg is coming off a 2-1 stretch last week; the Bulldogs defeated Plainfield and Ben Davis but fell to Bedford North Lawrence on the road Friday night
  • Through the first five games of the season Brownsburg is allowing opponents an average of 44.0 points per game; that is the second lowest average in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference
  • Brownsburg comes in at No. 9 in this week's IBCA Weekly Top 20 Poll and ICGSA 4A Poll
  • Allison Bosse averaged 21.3 points per game in Brownsburg's three matchups last week; Bosse scored a career-high 29 points in the Bulldogs' win over Ben Davis
  • Mackenzie Stein's 15-point performance against Ben Davis is her highest offensive output since she scored 16 points against Franklin Central during the 2017-2018 season
  • Ally Becki is averaging the fourth-most assists per game in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference this season

     About the Pioneers

After a 2-0 start to the season, Mooresville is looking to snap a two-game skid against the Bulldogs. The Pioneers fell 79-43 to North Central (Indianapolis) in their last matchup.

Paige Gregory leads Mooresville in scoring with an average of 13.3 points per game. She is coming off a 12-point performance against the Panthers.

A trio of sophomores follow Gregory in the scoring column.

Madelynn Denny (11.8 ppg and 6.5 rpg), Allison Graber (7.3 ppg and 3.8 apg) and Abigail Young (5.3 ppg and 5.0 rpg) are also headliners for the Pioneers.

Mooresville is coming off a 17-10 season a year ago. The Pioneers won the IHSAA Class 4A Sectional 12 championship by defeating Brownsburg in the title game.

The Pioneers are looking to replace former Pioneer Elise Scaggs who led Mooresville with an average of 17.0 points per game last season.

     About the Millers

Noblesville is 3-2 on the young season and is riding a 2-game win streak. Their matchup with Brownsburg is the lone game this week for the Millers.

Noblesville is led by freshman standout Ashlynn Shade. She is averaging 17.6 ppg 6.4 rpg and 3.4 apg for the Millers this year.

Shade is the third-leading scorer in the HCC through the early goings of the season.

Mallory Miller (8.6 ppg) is the Millers' second-leading scorer.

Noblesville went 9-14 last year and fell in their IHSAA State Tournament opener to Carmel.

     Series History

Since 2000, Brownsburg and Mooresville have met on 13 occasions including nine times during the regular season. The Pioneers lead the series 9-4 over that span. However, Brownsburg has won three of their last five matchups with Mooresville.

Last season the Bulldogs defeated Mooresville 65-47 during the regular season as Bosse scored 21 points for Brownsburg. The Pioneers defeated Brownsburg in the IHSAA Class 4A Sectional 12 Championship game later in the season.

Brownsburg and Noblesville have met 19 times since 2000 with each matchup coming in Hoosier Crossroads Conference play. Brownsburg has a slight 10-9 advantage in the series over that span.

Last year Brownsburg beat Noblesville 69-33 at the Varsity Fieldhouse. Bosse led Brownsburg with 15 points in the win. Becki and former Bulldog Kyleigh Leaf both had 12 points.
