Fourth quarter run seals win for No. 4/6 @bhsdogsghoops over Plainfield

By Keelen Barlow

The Brownsburg varsity girls' basketball team moved to 3-0 after a hard-fought 56-40 win over Plainfield. The Bulldogs used a dominating run in the final quarter, led by 8 points in the fourth from Ally Becki, to hold off the Quakers and get the win.

Becki led Brownsburg with 17 points on the night. Allison Bosse scored 16 points while Mackenzie Bedrick scored 11 for the Bulldogs.

The win gave Brownsburg head coach Debbie Guckenberger the 200th victory of her head coaching career. After coaching at Greenwood High School on the south side of Indianapolis for 12 seasons, Guckenberger is in her 5th season at the helm of the program at Brownsburg. She is 73-29 since taking over as Brownsburg's head coach.

Brownsburg led 26-18 after a slow first half in terms of offense.

After the teams combined for just 12 points in the first quarter, Allison Bosse exploded for the first seven Brownsburg points of the second quarter. The run was good enough for Brownsburg to hold the advantage at the break.

The third quarter is when the Quakers made their biggest push of the night. Plainfield battled to bring the game within two points with roughly two minutes to go in the third quarter.

Brownsburg weathered the storm and led 37-34 after three quarters.

The Bulldogs jumped on the Quakers in the fourth outscoring them 19-6. That sequence featured a smaller 6-0 surge that allowed Brownsburg to take a double figure lead.

Brownsburg was able to force turnovers to create offense in the final quarter to ultimately put the Quakers away.
