Girls' Swim/Dive Downs Tri-West

The Bulldog Girls Swimming & Diving Team shook off the cold weather and heated up the pool in Lizton on Tuesday night. Senior Kierra Watson and juniors Madison Kehr and Piper Lovett were triple winners as the Dogs won 9 of 12 events to open their season with a 121-62 win over the Tri-West Bruins.
Lovett (50 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke) and Watson (100 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke) picked up a pair of individual wins each while Kehr won the 500 Freestyle. The individual stars struck gold in the relay events as well. Kehr, Lovett, Watson and sophomore Kaylee Propst won the opening 200 Medley Relay while Kehr was joined by senior Brianna LaPaugh and sophomores Karsyn Hopper and AJ Moll on the winning 400 Freestyle Relay.
Freshman Bailey LaPaugh began her Bulldog career in fine fashion, leading a 1-2 sweep of the 200 IM with senior Ashly Kraatz. And new Bulldog Diving Coach Zach Baldwin got his tenure off to a strong start as well, as sophomore Danielle LeClerc took top honors in diving.
"The first meet of the season always comes at an opportune time, giving the kids something to look forward to after a long period of difficult training," Head Coach Josh Saylor said. "The girls have worked hard on a lot of small details that make a big difference, and it showed tonight."
Thank you to all of the parents and fans who came out to support the girls! It was hard to tell we were on the road with the awesome support - and all of the purple - on display Tuesday night!
The Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday, November 25, with the first meet of the season at the Bulldog Aquatic Center, hosting Cascade and Mooresville at 5:30pm.
