Bulldogs Swim in HCC Tournament

The Bulldog Swimming & Diving Team took on a stacked field Saturday at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet at Fishers HS. The Bulldog girls finished seventh while the boys finished fifth, highlighted by a conference record performance in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
"The HCC is as competitive a conference, top to bottom, as there is in the state," Head Coach Josh Saylor said. "Doing well here, against this field, isn't easy. But if you do it should give you that last confidence boost you need right before championship season. There were some ups and downs today but overall, I'm pleased with where we're at in this final stretch before the biggest meets of the season."
The Dogs took top honors in the 200 Freestyle Relay, with the quartet of seniors Kyle Baney and Cameron Howard, junior Vince Partlow and freshman Jack Franzman smoking the field in a new HCC record time of 1:27.50. It was the first conference championship for Brownsburg since Kevin Long won diving in 2007.
Partlow finished third in the 200 & 500 Freestyle, while Franzman was the runner-up in the 50 & 100 Freestyle, with Baney (50 Freestyle) and Howard (100 Freestyle) following in third place, respectively. The record-setting quartet also finished third in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Senior Diego La Torre finished eighth in the 100 Backstroke while La Torre, seniors Joe Ancel and Adam Moll and sophomore Frank Schoemer finished sixth in the 200 Medley Relay. Sophomore Justin Garnett, in his first year of diving, reached the podium in eighth place.
Additional strong performances were turned in by seniors Jimmy Breedlove and Chad Hale, sophomore Andrew Fulwider and freshmen Braden Jackson, Andrew Lehn and Jack Lukens.
Junior Madison Kehr led the charge for the girls, with a team high fourth place finish in the 200 Freestyle as well as eighth place in the 100 Freestyle. Sophomore Danielle LeClerc finished sixth in diving and sophomore AJ Moll was eighth in the 500 Freestyle. Kehr teamed with senior Kierra Watson, junior Piper Lovett and freshman Bailey LaPaugh to finish sixth in the 200 Medley Relay. LaPaugh and Moll teamed with seniors Clarice Cross and Megan Wolf to finish seventh in the 200 Freestyle Relay while Kehr, Lovett, Moll and Watson finished seventh in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Additional strong performances were turned in by seniors Ashly Kraatz, Brianna LaPaugh and Alyssa Smock, sophomores Angelica Brinker, Karsyn Hopper and Kaylee Propst and freshmen Kayla Cromer, Ava Davidson and Annabelle Ketchem.
The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, January 13, traveling to Plainfield to take on the Quakers at 5:30pm.
