Orioles Swim Past Bulldogs

The Bulldog Swimming & Diving Team participated in the latest chapter of their crosstown rivalry Tuesday night, traveling to Avon for a contest with the Orioles. Both teams turned in several impressive results but ultimately came up short, with the girls falling to 3-2 on the season by a score of 104-78 and the boys dropping a 114-71 decision to top ranked Avon.
"There are no easy nights in December when you look at our schedule, but that's by design," Head Coach Josh Saylor said. "Our biggest goals are for the state tournament in February and meets like tonight and Zionsville last week are preparing us for that. I feel like we keep getting better every time out and that's the direction we want to go in."
The Bulldog girls had success in the relay events, taking 2 of 3 from the Orioles. Juniors Piper Lovett and Madison Kehr, sophomore AJ Moll and freshman Bailey LaPaugh took first place in the 200 Medley Relay, while Kehr, Lovett and seniors Clarice Cross and Kierra Watson won the 200 Freestyle Relay.
Watson, sophomore Kaylee Propst and senior Megan Wolf finished 2-3-4 in the 200 Freestyle, outscoring the Orioles in the event despite not taking first place, and once again, the Bulldog divers produced a strong showing on the boards. Sophomores Danielle LeClerc and Angelica Brinker finished first and third.
Junior Vince Partlow was a double winner for the Bulldog boys, highlighting his night with a win in the 100 Butterfly with freshman Jack Franzman right behind in second place. Franzman and Partlow teamed with senior Kyle Baney and sophomore Frank Schoemer to win the 200 Medley Relay.
Following the lead of the girls diving team, sophomore Justin Garnett picked up his first career win with freshmen Kyle Stankovich and Grant Kent completing a strong showing in third and fourth place, respectively. Seniors Joe Ancel (200 Freestyle), Cameron Howard (50 Freestyle) and Adam Moll (200 IM) each picked up runner-up finishes on the night.
Both teams return to action on Thursday, December 11, hosting another Hoosier Crossroads Conference rival as Westfield visits the Bulldog Aquatic Center for a 6:30pm contest.
