Boys' Cross Country Hendricks County Champs!

The boys' cross-country team claimed the Hendricks County Championship yesterday for the third consecutive year, defeating second-place Avon by a score of 36 to 49. The Bulldogs claimed 5 out of the top 13 spots, led by individual county champion Elliot Shaw, who toured the soggy 5 km course in 16 minutes and 17 seconds. Justin Hays and Alek Minkis followed closely in 4th and 7th place, respectively. Mark Bond, Sam Fellers, Jack Reed, and Seth Webster rounded out the team champions' roster, all running very strong races.

The boys' JV team came into its own yesterday, with the top five boys all running personal record times and crossing the line within a 16 second span. Those five were Jack Thomas (running with one shoe for more than 2 miles), Joey Vonderahe, Shane Bonness, Brandon Britton, and Elijah Wagner.

The girls ran an inspired race, passing runner after runner over the last mile to secure the runner-up position to first-place Avon. Julia Popenfoose was the top Bulldog in sixth place, followed very closely by Allison Hering and Cassidy Brown in the 8th and 9th places. All three earned "All-County" honors for their top 10 run. KJ Gaerke and Brooke U'Ren ran strong races to score valuable points for the varsity runners as well.
