Bulldogs Open Sectional Action

The Bulldog Swimming & Diving Team positioned itself for its first Sectional championship victory since 2006 with a strong performance on Thursday night at Decatur Central HS. The Dogs will take four first place qualifiers and all 27 prelim swims into finals on Saturday, February 22.
 
"We had a great night tonight on two fronts," Head Coach Josh Saylor said," Moving swimmers from prelims to finals and swimmers picking their moment to go all in, and having it pay off. We are poised to win a championship."
 
Sophomore Vince Partlow will lead the Dogs into finals as the top qualifier in the 200 & 500 Freestyle. Senior Bradley Green qualified first in the 100 Butterfly, and the team of senior Jared Krug, juniors Jimmy Breedlove and Adam Moll and freshman Frank Schoemer qualified first in the 200 Medley Relay.
 
Junior Cameron Howard qualified second in the 200 Freestyle and third in the 100 Freestyle, while junior Kyle Baney was second in the 200 IM and sixth in the 100 Freestyle. Junior Diego La Torre was second in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly, while junior Joe Ancel was third in the 50 Freestyle and second in the 100 Breaststroke, with Schoemer right behind at third in the 100 Breaststroke.
 
Seniors Donnie Spencer (200 Individual Medley) and Krug (100 Backstroke); and juniors Chad Hale (200 & 500 Freestyle), Breedlove (500 Freestyle & 100 Backstroke) and Moll (100 Butterfly & 200 Individual Medley) also qualified for finals.
 
In additional relay action, the 400 Freestyle Relay team of seniors Josh Hanlon and Krug and juniors Breedlove and Hale finished second, while the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Hale, Moll, Schoemer and Spencer finished fourth.
 
 
The IHSAA Sectional Swimming & Diving Finals will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 22 at Decatur Central HS.
