Bulldogs Defeat Avon

The Girls' Varsity Tennis team won a hard-fought battle over Avon 3-2.  As a result of the win, the Bulldogs bring home the BELL!  While number one singles Kara Mehringer did not score the victory, she played an excellent match against a highly rated opponent.   Number two singles Hailey Blood was very impressive in a scorching match, losing in a tie-break in the first and 6-4 in the second.  Our first point came from the incredible duo of Caitlin Preda and Payton Haygood.  They caught fire early and kept it burning.  Their energy was transmitted to the number two doubles team of Kristina Petrovic and Lily House.  Petrovic and House won the first set in a breaker and then closed it out in the second.  With the match knotted at 2-2, freshman Ellie Hughes battled through three sets and clinched the win for the 'Dogs.  Thank you, fans, for your strong support.  Both varsity and JV are scheduled to play AT Brebeuf tomorrow at 4:30.
