Girls' Tennis Wins Own Invite

The varsity girls' tennis team won the 2013 Brownsburg Invitational this weekend with some very impressive wins over ranked teams!  In the first round, the Bulldogs defeated Western Boone with a 5-0 sweep.  Nicole Weisman, Morgan Bettner, and Katie Suiter started the morning off with excellent singles' victories.  The doubles tandems of Emily Doehrman/Shelby Hornback and Nikki Meade/Yolandi Geldenhuis put together a great game plan to take the last two points of the match and finish the morning in perfect style.  In the second round, the Bulldogs faced #25 Columbus East and pulled in a fantastic 3-2 victory.  The doubles duos of Emily Doehrman/Shelby Hornback and Nikki Meade/Yolandi Geldenhuis stormed the courts and grabbed the first two points.  Senior Katie Suiter clinched the match with a well-fought victory at the three singles spot.  In the final match, which determined the championship, the Dogs stopped #8 Bloomington South with a sweet 3-2 win.  Katie Suiter came off the courts with a quick win at three singles.  Both doubles teams of Emily Doehrman/Shelby Hornback and Nikki Meade/Yolandi Geldenhuis had their "A" game going at the net and closed out the match with victories on their courts.  The JV team was represented by Kelsey Henry who had a nice victory in the last match of the day!  Thank you to all the fans and teammates who braved the chilly temperatures and brisk wind to back our girls!  Both squads are back in action here at home Monday against Westfield.
