Westfield Swims to a Win Over Bulldogs

The Bulldog Swimming & Diving Team took on their third consecutive Hoosier Crossroads Conference rival Thursday night, hosting the Westfield Shamrocks. There were many outstanding performances on the night and the Dogs fought to the last, falling just short of victory by a score of 118-67 (girls) and 110-76 (boys).

"I was extremely pleased and impressed with what I saw out of everyone tonight," Head Coach Josh Saylor said. "The kids put their best foot forward and I'm proud of coaches Megan Kendall, Zach Baldwin and Lindsey Acton for getting the team ready to roll."

Saylor is in Seattle, Washington, where Bulldog swimmers Kyle Baney, Jack Franzman, Cameron Howard and Vince Partlow are preparing to compete this week at the USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals.

The Bulldog girls were led by junior Madison Kehr, who won the 100 Freestyle and finished second in the 200 Freestyle, and sophomore Danielle LeClerc. LeClerc continued an impressive season with a win in diving followed by freshman Kayla Cromer in third in her first career diving meet and sophomore Angelica Brinker in fourth.

Freshman Bailey LaPaugh (100 Butterfly), sophomore AJ Moll (500 Freestyle) and senior Kierra Watson (200 IM, 100 Backstroke) all picked up second place finishes. And the freshman trio of Ava Davidson, Annabelle Ketchem and Anna Santiago had huge time drops in the 100 Breaststroke.

Seniors Diego La Torre and Adam Moll and sophomore Frank Schoemer were all double winners for the Bulldog boys. The trio started the night by teaming with freshman Jack Lukens to win the 200 Medley Relay. Schoemer tied for first in the 100 Breast, La Torre won the 50 Freestyle and Moll won the 100 Butterfly with freshman Braden Jackson second for a 1-2 finish.

Senior Joe Ancel won the 200 Freestyle and additional great swims were turned in by sophomore Trent Bien (100 Breaststroke), freshman Devon Anderson (200 IM) and freshman Jacob Wilson (500 Freestyle).

The Dogs return to action on Tuesday, December 16, hosting the Pike Red Devils at 6pm at the Bulldog Aquatic Center.
