Boys' Swim Past Brebeuf

The Bulldog Boys Swimming & Diving Team wrapped up the regular season on Tuesday night, with a convincing victory over the Brebeuf Braves. The Dogs won 11 of 12 events and breezed to a 133-49 victory to finish the season on a six dual meet win streak.
"The guys are tired right now but this is the home stretch, and despite all of the heavy training we're still doing, we had some strong performances tonight," Head Coach Josh Saylor said. "This was our last chance to race before championships and I was pleased with what I saw. We're ready to rest and be at our best in the state tournament."
Senior Diego La Torre, junior Vince Partlow and freshman Jack Franzman were triple winners for the Dogs, with each claiming an individual victory. La Torre won the 200 IM, Partlow won the 100 Backstroke and Franzman won the 50 Freestyle. La Torre and Franzman teamed with senior Joe Ancel and sophomore Frank Schoemer to win the 200 Freestyle Relay, while La Torre and Partlow teamed with seniors Chad Hale and Cameron Howard to win the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Ancel, Baney, Franzman and Partlow also won the 200 Medley Relay, narrowly missing the school record in the event and giving Ancel his second victory on the night. Baney (100 Breaststroke), Hale (500 Freestyle) and Howard (100 Freestyle) added individual victories to join Ancel as double winners.
Senior Adam Moll won the 200 Freestyle and freshman Noah Pearson took the top spot in the 100 Butterfly. And sophomore Justin Garnett and freshmen Grant Kent and Andrew Lehn had a strong showing on the diving board, finishing 2-3-4 in the event.
The Dogs return to the pool this Thursday, February 5, with the preliminary round of the IHSAA Girls Sectional Championship. Action begins at 5:30pm at Decatur Central HS
