McFarland Signs with Youngstown State University

Brownsburg senior Sophie McFarland signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her education and play soccer at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.  McFarland was a 4-year starter and varsity letter winner.  She served as team captain for the last two years.  (See list of honors below)

Brownsburg Soccer Coach Megan Osborn shared her excitement. "I am very excited for Sophie's playing career to continue with a fine program at Youngstown.  She will make an immediate impact for the Penguins.  She will be an excellent college player, and become an amazing educator.  Sophie has a gift for working with children."

Her new coach, William Lemke can't wait to work with Sophie.  "Sophie is a very flexible player who can play in the midfield or the back line.  She has very good technical range, a strong aerial game and is a very rugged defender.  I believe that she will be competing for minutes in a variety of different positions."
