Bulldogs Down Orioles

The varsity football team pushed their record to 4-0 as they won the first ever B and O Rotary Bell in a 30-22 victory over conference and county rival Avon. For the second week in a row, the offense came out on fire, scoring 27 first half points. On Avon's third play of the game, senior defensive lineman Josh Thompson recovered an Oriole fumble and on the next play, Carson Gill burst through the middle of the line for a 24 yard touchdown run. After an Avon touchdown the Dogs responded with another touchdown drive, culminating in a three yard touchdown reception from Hunter Johnson to Bryce Kirtz. The next touchdown came when Hunter Johnson emerged from the backfield for a 42 yard run of his own to push the score to 21-7. The final score of the first half was yet another Hunter Johnson touchdown pass, this time to senior receiver Eli Johnson. The offense only managed one score in the second half when Devin Steinman converted on a 27 yard field goal in the third quarter. The Bulldog defense was impressive, holding the Orioles to only 26 yards rushing on 26 carries and only 218 yards of total offense. Antrez Baker and Isaac McCormick each forced a fumble and the defense was led in tackles by Anthony Cicciarelli with 8 tackles. Turnovers were especially huge for the Bulldogs, getting 2 fumble recoveries from Josh Thompson and an interception from Nathan WaltonThe Bulldogs will look to move to 2-0 in the conference as they travel to Fishers High School this Friday at 7pm.
