The varsity football team pushed its record to 3-0 on Friday night, beating the Franklin Grizzly Cubs 46-30. The offense came out on fire, scoring 30 points in the first half. The scoring kicked off with a six yard run by Hunter Johnson early in the first quarter. On the following drive, Johnson found Bryce Kirtz running behind the defense for a 67 yard TD pass. Kirtz added another TD reception early in the second quarter on a 2 yard reception from Johnson. Carson Gill got in on the action with 3 minutes left in the first half as he hit pay dirt from one yard out to cap off a long drive. In the second half, Bryce Kirtz found the end zone for the third time on the night, this time on a 23 yard pass from Johnson. Senior linebacker Stormm Garnett had another impressive performance, totaling 15 tackles and Anthony Cicciarelli totaled 10 tackles himself. Junior safety Nathan Walton had another big night, recording 7 tackles of his own as well as a fumble recovery. Senior defensive linemen Rickie Clark and Josh Thompson each caused a fumble and Isaac McCormick added 7 tackles to his credit. The Dogs will look to move their record to 4-0 on Friday night when the host county and conference rival Avon at 7 PM.
