Girls' Golf Competes at HCC

On Tuesday, the girls' golf team traveled to Bear Slide Golf Club to play on one of the state's toughest courses against the state's toughest competition in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Invitational.  Of the nine opponents on the course, five were ranked in the top twenty in the state, so the girls had their work cut out for them.  Things started out with some rough spots on the front nine, but steady play from Andrea Wesson helped keep the girls within reach of the competition.  After the turn, the girls struggled to put together enough consecutive low-scoring holes to move up on the rest of the field.  Despite struggling on the 17th, Emma Wilkins came back on 18 with a birdie, while Wesson again stayed steady as she pushed through to a 103, second only to Cody's 93.  Topi finished with a 108, Wilkins with a 110, and Koester with a 123.  The girls will fight to redeem themselves on Saturday at another competitive invitational at Prestwick.
