Bulldogs Advance to Elite 8

The boys basketball team advanced to the Regional Finals with a 47-44 win over 11th ranked Lawrence North.  In a highly contested game, the Dogs lead 9-8 after a period only to see their second quarter lead turn into a 1 point deficit at halftime 22-21. Both teams traded leads in the third quarter and battled for command of the game but neither team could secure control. Trailing 35-33 going into the fourth quarter, several players made great plays.  Jordache Mavunga had a charge and made a 3 pointer.  He also had several nice plays defensively.  Landon Hall had a huge rebound and kick out to KJ Walton for a transition basket.  Hall later made a 3 pointer late in the game to keep the Dogs in the lead.  Darrian Ringo made several plays but the high light may have been a block in transition that kept the Dogs in the lead.  Darrian's head had to be even with the rim when he swatted the ball away.  Lastly with 7 seconds left and Brownsburg clinging to a 1 point lead, KJ Walton stole the ball and was fouled with a second remaining.  Walton added 2 free throws to the lead for the final 47-44 win.   A great team effort to beat one of the state's best teams and advance to the finals.

With a spot in the Elite 8, the Bulldogs of Brownsburg took on #10 ranked Richmond for the Regional Championship Saturday night.  The Bulldogs rushed out to a quick lead only to see Richmond shoot lights out and take a 19-13 first quarter lead.  Darrian Ringo helped keep the Dogs close with a basket, steal, basket to end the quarter.  Richmond returned the favor scoring 4 straight points in the closing seconds to take an 11 point halftime lead.  The third quarter saw the Dogs dig and even greater hole as Richmonds lead reached 19 points.  With great pride the Bulldogs gave one last push and nearly pulled off the comeback.  Chipping away at the lead, the players hustled and scrapped for steals, stops, rebounds all leading to score on offense.  The Richmond lead cut to 3, Brownsburg would get no closer.  Richmond's senior guards closed out the Dogs going 18-21 from the foul line and were without a miss until the closing seconds.  Brownsburg ran out of time losing 71-65.  For the season the  Bulldogs did not disappointed their faithful going 21-7 and capturing back to back County and Sectional Championships. KJ Walton amassed over 1400 career points and secured himself as one of Brownsburg's best career players.  The seniors are excited to finish up the school year and begin their next step as college student athletes.  Bulldogs fans wish Jordache, KJ, Darrian and Dalton the very best and congratulate them for a wonderful career.
