Bulldogs Celebrate Seniors

A bittersweet end to the 2015 regular season as the Bulldogs win an exciting Friday night game to bring home a victory on senior night but let a win slip through their fingers on Saturday morning.  On Friday night, the Bulldogs fell behind early 5-1 by the top of the 4th inning, but that's when the bats came to life.  Seniors Travis Mears, Ryan Robbins, Brad Guilinger and Andrew Dishinger all scored after reaching base and being followed by singles from senior Jacson McGowan and senior Caleb Sampen.  However, the fireworks came in the bottom of the 8th after Sampen reached second on a stolen base, senior Michael Klayer came to the plate with 1 out and roped a double off the wall to score the winning run as the Dogs won 7-6.  Jacson McGowan collected the win after seniors Triston Polley and Matt Rollyson pitched the first 7 innings of the ball game.  Unfortunately, the late inning heroics ran out on Saturday morning as a late lead was erased by a couple late inning hits by the HSE Royals and the Bulldogs fell 8-7.  The Bulldogs end their regular season 14-12 (9-9 HCC – 4th) and will face HCC rival Avon on Wednesday night in Martinsville to kick off the 2015 IHSAA State Tournament.
