Bulldogs Over Center Grove

Bulldogs Over Center Grove

he Bulldogs picked up a huge nonconference win over Center Grove with a score of 5-1.  The Trojans were able to take a 1 run lead in the bottom of the first inning when a double off sophomore starting pitcher Logan Kabrich turned into a run, but that would be all the offense Center Grove would put together for the rest of the day as they were only able to get runners on base in one more inning.  After the Trojans scored in the bottom of the first, senior Owen Gilbert quickly provided an offensive spark with a two-run home run in the top of the second to put the Dogs ahead.  Gilbert's HR scored senior C Brooks Bireley who double off the wall the previous at bat.  Kabrich continued to coast on the mound retiring the Trojans in order in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th inning before handing the ball over to senior LHP Matt Rollyson.  Rollyson provided a perfect 6th inning set-up with a three-up-three-down inning.  In the top of the 7th, the Dogs provided some insurance runs.  Junior PH Chase Haynes led off the 2-out rally with a double down the left field line which was followed by a walk from senior 3B Andrew Dishinger.  With two on and two outs, senior DH Jacson McGowan blasted a three-run home run to center to extend the lead to 5-1.  In the bottom of the 7th, senior RHP Michael Klayer retired the side and the Dogs collected their 12th win on the season.  Defensively, the Dogs were flawless in the field and were able to put together 11 hits at the plate.  It was a great team win all around!  The Bulldogs move to 12-8 (7-5 HCC) on the season.
