Baseball Falls to Orioles in County Tourney

The Bulldogs 4-game win streak came to an end this past week in the Hendricks County Championship after falling 5-4 to rival Avon.  In the morning game, the Dogs won 10-0 in 6 innings over the Tri-West Bruins.  Senior LHP Triston Polley was the star of the game pitching 6 innings, striking out 12 batters and giving only 2 hits. Offensively, after a quiet 4 innings, the Dogs scored 5 runs in the 5th and 4 runs in the 6th to end game.  Senior 3B Andrew Dishinger (2-4 with 2 runs and an RBI), senior CF Ryan Robbins (1-2 with 2 runs), and senior 2B Brad Guilinger (1-3 with 2 runs) led the Bulldogs in the morning game.  In the night cap, the Dogs faced off against the Avon Orioles and were locked into a pitching duel early.  The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd when the Orioles managed to squeeze in an unearned run off of 2 Bulldog error and then added two more in the bottom of the 4th off of a timely hit and a defensive miscue.  The Avon pitcher was able to keep the Dogs at bay until the top of the 6th when the Bulldogs scored 4 runs on 5 hits to take the lead going to the bottom of the 6th.  Unfortunately, the Bulldogs could not hold the lead and lost 5-4 after the Orioles scored 2 in the bottom of the 6th and held off a 7th inning rally by the Dogs.  The Bulldogs move to 6-4 (2-1 HCC) on the season
