Bulldogs Defeat Millers

Bulldogs Defeat Millers

The Bulldogs opened up the Noblesville series with an offensive showcase, outscoring the Noblesville Millers 11-4 in game one.  The Dogs jumped out of the gate scoring 4 in the bottom of the first, enough to get the Millers into the bullpen early.  They tacked on 2 more in the bottom of the second after the Millers were able to scratch a few across the board.   The Millers were able to claw back in the top of the 4th, bringing the score to 6-4, but an Owen Gilbert bases clearing double with two outs opened up the score again for the Dogs making it 9 -4.  The Millers wouldn't score again after the Bulldogs brought in their relieve pitchers.  Senior LHP Matt Rollyson provided a near perfect two innings to keep the game at 9-4 and Anthony Travelsted home run pushed the score to 11-4.  Senior closer Michael Klayer shut down the Millers in the 7th to end the game.  Senior RHP Caleb Sampen provided the first 4 inning on the mound for the Bulldogs to collect the win.  Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by seniors Jacson McGowan, Owen Gilbert, Anthony Travelsted and Brad Guilinger.  It was an all-around team win.  The Bulldogs move to 13-8 (8-5 HCC) and will play the Millers twice this weekend to round out the series.
