Bulldogs Defeat Avon

Last night the Bulldogs hosted County and HCC rival Avon in a closely contested dual meet.

The Lady Bulldogs pulled away from the Orioles to win 103-83.  Leading the Bulldogs on the night were:

Maria Gutsweiler with win in the 50 Free.  Logan Replogle with a win in the 500 Freestyle.  Jenny Dreessen with a win in the 100 Backstroke and Elise Dahlke with a win in the 100 Free.

The big event for the girls last night was the Diving event.  Freshman Emma Wolf won, Sophomore Hannah Truax finished second and sophomore Maya Laman finished third - with the diving girls sweeping the Orioles!

The finish of the meet had the 400 Free Relay of Elise Dahlke, Maria Gutzweiler, Baily LaPaugh and Joley Clodfelter swimming their season best time to win the event and close out the meet.

Not only did the Bulldogs win the relay, Madison Mehringer, Jenny Dreessen, Rory Smith and Maranda Peak upset the top seeded Avon relay for a 1-2 finish to emphasize the win.

On the guys side, it was a true team victory.  The boys only won two individual events.  Freshman Austin Kehr won the 100 Free and Senior newcomer to the team Sam Hughes won the diving event.  The guys did win 2 of the 3 relays to secure the win:

Braden Jackson, Devin Anderson, Jack Kreilein and Austin Kehr won the 200 Free relay.

In the last event of the night, with the Bulldogs trailing the Orioles by 2 points, the same four relay guys came back and won the 400 Free relay to pull ahead and secure the win.

Both teams will be in action Thursday night as Mooresville comes to the Bulldog Aquatic Center.
