Girls Swim Competes at State Finals

The girls wrapped up their state tournament this week.

The week began with senior co-captain Danielle LeClerc and freshman Hannah Truax competing in the diving regional.  Hannah finished 16th and Danielle finished 10th.  Unfortunately only the top 8 moved on to the State Championship.  Hannah being a freshman and making the regional in her first season is a nice sign for the future.

On Friday the swimmers participated in the IHSAA State Championship prelims - 3 individual swims and 2 relays competed.

The night opened with the 200 Medley Relay of Jenny Dreessen, Madison Mehringer, Bailey LaPaugh and Abby Callis moving up from 30th to 27th - with all four girls returning next year, the school record and a potential top 16 finish are waiting for them.

Logan Replogle swam the 200 IM and the 500 Free.  She improved her placing in both events.  Moving up from 32nd to 31st in the IM with a season and personal best and from 29th to 26th in the 500 with one of her top times.  Logan is a sophomore who will be back with big goals next season.

Jenny Dreessen swam the 100 Back after just missing the 29 year-old school record last week by .12 seconds.  Just a sophomore, Jenny didn't have her best swim at the state meet but looks to come back next season and crush the school record and claim a spot in the top 16.

The highlight of the meet for the Bulldogs was the 400 Free Relay.  Seeded 31st heading into the prelim event, the girls dropped over 4 seconds to move up to 26th.  Junior Bailey LaPaugh, Sophomores Maranda Peak and Logan Replogle and Freshman Joley Clodfelter ended with a season best time and found themselves within 5 seconds of the school year.

It was a great Championship season for the Bulldogs.
