Bulldogs Grab Share of HCC Conference Championship

Bulldogs Grab Share of HCC Conference Championship

On Friday the boys basketball team travelled to Hamilton Southeastern in hopes of capturing the first conference championship since 2004.  The program has been so close to the championship over the last four seasons, finishing 2nd, 3rd and 2nd but has been unable to secure the top spot in the conference. The Bulldogs started off quickly racing to a first quarter lead.  Foul trouble and poor play put the team in a seven point deficit at halftime.  The team had a different mindset to start the third quarter and with some adjustments were able to erase the lead and take a two point advantage to start the fourth quarter.  Midway through the fourth HSE regained the lead but it was to be the Bulldogs night as they closed the game on a 8-3 run and captured the Hoosier Crossroads Championship  with a 57-54 win.  So many plays impacted the win as every player made great contributions to the success of the team.  The team went a perfect 14-14 from the foul line and were lead in scoring by Pierce Thomas(12) Cameron Alford(11), Malek Edmonds(11) and Antrez Baker(10).  Kris Jackson went 4-4 from the line in closing seconds and Reis Thomas played a great all around game.  Senior Kyle Wolf had a monster dunk to keep the team and fans hyped in the first half.  The team held HSE to 24 second half points to secure the win.

Congratulations to Seniors Kyle Wolf, Antrez Baker, Kris Jackson and Ryan Porath. Junior team members Reis Thomas, Cameron Alford, Gunnar Reffeitt, Richard Lang, Tyler Nolan, Seth Harley, and Ryan Wiggins.  Sophomore team members Malek Edmonds, Connor Lucas, Jakobi McGowan, and Kyler Spoljaric.  And Freshmen team members Pierce Thomas, Quentin Bragg, and Luke Lacey.  As with all championship teams, the players have individually impacted team success with their work ethic, dedication and willingness to make the team better.  Special thanks to BHS administration, coaches, trainers and especially the parents for all of their support of the team to help them achieve this goal.
