Bulldogs Win HCC Trophy

The Bulldogs concluded regular season play by capturing the HCC championship this past Friday night with a convincing win over traditional powerhouse, Hamilton Southeastern High School. It was Brownsburg's first football conference championship since the 2012 season. It was an all-around dominating offensive performance by the bulldog offense as they racked up 447 total yards of offense on the night. Senior QB Hunter Johnson had another impressive performance, throwing five TD passes on the night. Bryce Kirtz hauled in two of them and Eli Johnson, Dequincy Davis and Will Berens each had one of their own. Johnson finished the night 20 of 32 passing with 261 yards through the air and he ran for another 71 yards on 16 carries. Freshman RB Donnie Marcus had a breakout game in his first start as a Bulldog, tallying 110 yards on the ground on 28 carries. The defense was once again led by stellar play from senior defensive end, Isaac McCormick. McCormick totaled 10 tackles on the evening, two of them being tackles for loss. Senior linebackers Josh McKinney and Stormm Garnett each had 9 tackles of their own and junior defensive tackle Reilley Petersen had a sack. The Bulldogs have this Friday off as they have a bye in the opening round off the IHSAA football tournament. They will be back in action on Friday October 28th as they play host to Ben Davis High School in sectional semifinal action.
