Boys' Basketball Moves to 12-1 with Win Over Fishers

By: Maddie Greer

The Bulldogs upped their overall record to 12-1 and their conference record to 3-0 with a quick win over Fishers. The Dogs are now #1 in the conference with their flawless record.

This team has proven time and time again their toughness and tonight was no exception.

The Dogs exploded out of the gate from the very beginning of the game, with end of the 1st quarter scores of 17-13 with the Dogs leading. By halftime, the Tigers had only scored 4 more points to put the score at 24-17. True to Bulldog fashion, the team viciously pushed through the rest of the game to earn a 61-45 win over the Tigers.

Head Coach Steve Lynch says, "We really reached moments of fatigue, but the kids really played through it. We really had our guys dialed in, focused, communicating, talking. Again, just have to give the kids a ton a credit for what they did tonight."

Top scorer and powerhouse, Malek Edmonds, is out with an injury right now, but Lynch says that isn't stopping the senior from leading from the sidelines.

"We had to challenge the guys to step up, but Malek's really providing that voice from the bench. You can hear him talking and leading us. While he's not with us on the floor, he is certainly providing that voice and stability."

Senior Connor Lucas, another showstopper, showed up big tonight, scoring 25 of the Bulldogs' points and pulling in 5 assists.

Standout Pierce Thomas, a junior, brought in 8 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Junior Quentin Bragg ended the game with 11 points and 3 assists. Junior Luke Lacey brought in 5 points and 5 assists and senior Jakobi McGowan had 5 points with 5 assists. Junior Talibe Diallo brought the Dogs 3 points.

The Dogs are back on Friday, January 24 at home vs. Westfield, another big HCC team.
