Thomas Leads Boys' Basketball to Win Over Quakers

By: Maddie Greer

The Dogs had an impressive comeback win over the Plainfield Quakers with a final score of 57-47. After a first half where the Dogs struggled and went into halftime with a score of 18-21, they came back out with some explosive power.

Junior Pierce Thomas took the reins tonight with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Senior Malek Edmonds followed with 15 points and 12 rebounds and senior Connor Lucas had 13 points and 3 assists. Junior Quentin Bragg had 6 points and junior Luke Lacey had 6 assists and 3 rebounds.

The first half was a tough bit for the Bulldogs. Head Coach Steve Lynch says, "I think back to back nights, first time for some of our guys to log that many minutes, Friday and Saturday night."

Lynch says that his team did a good job of putting that first half behind them though which served as a catalyst for the win; "I love our kids' demeanor; they were very good at halftime. They knew what we needed to do, we talked about what they hurt us on. I thought second half, we kind of stayed the course."

The Dogs came out of the gate exploding for the second half. It was clear that they wanted a win and were willing to come out to work for it. One highlight of the game during the 4th quarter was a smooth slide from Thomas to Edmonds for a slam dunk that forced the Quakers into a timeout immediately after.

The Bulldogs will be back next week on Friday, Dec. 13 at Lawrence North at 7:30 PM.
