By Keelen Barlow

The Brownsburg varsity boys' basketball team defeated Tri-West 71-42 in their opener of the 2020 Hendricks County Boys Basketball Tournament. The Bulldogs advance to play Cascade in the Semi-Final round on Thursday night.

Brownsburg was led by Connor Lucas who scored 21 points in the win. That number is one off of Lucas' career high of 22 points, which he set earlier this year against Crispus Attucks. Lucas was 4-for-7 from behind the three-point line.

Malek Edmonds scored 10 points and grabbed 8 boards while Pierce Thomas scored 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Brownsburg and Tri-West were within just a few possessions of each other for most of the first quarter. Brownsburg led 12-7 after the opening frame but would add to their lead in the next two quarters.

The Bulldogs outscored Tri-West 49-22 between the beginning of the second quarter and the end of the third quarter. Lucas scored 13 points in the second quarter as the Bulldogs lead swelled to 34-19 at the half.

Eleven different Brownsburg players would see the court in the second half as the Bulldogs nursed the big lead. Nine Bulldogs scored in the win for Brownsburg.
