Football Opens 2012 Season with a Win

The varsity football team kicked off the 2012 season at McCutcheon on Saturday afternoon with an emotional 36-9 victory. Led by a defensive shut out that included four sacks and three interceptions, one each by Jeremy Shupperd, Cooper Wojcik and Garret Isch the team settled in after a tough start and began to execute. Offensively the team produced 359 total yards, rushing for 238 and passing for another 121. Justin Daun scored one touchdown for the Dogs with a 24 yard pass reception from Ian Good while Toks Akinribade scored two touchdowns in his first varsity game. Chase Dutra provided the biggest highlights of the game with a 73 yard punt return for a TD and a blocked field goal. Brandon Dowers also contributed to the point total with three field goals (two from 43 yards) and three extra points. Thanks to the "beach party" for making the trip to Lafayette! The team will travel to Noblesville this Friday night for a 7pm kick off with the Millers.
