Bulldogs Fall in Season Opener

The Bulldogs dropped their season opener 5-3 to Pendleton Heights last night.  Pendleton Heights jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first on a back-to-back doubles.  Both teams struggled to plate any runs over the next few innings as both pitching staffs were able to move quickly throw the 2nd and 3rd innings keeping the score at 1-0.  In the 4th, Pendleton Heights put 2 on the board but the Bulldogs battled back and added a run in the bottom half to make the score 4-2 heading into the 6th.  Pendleton Heights added one in the 7th.  The Bulldogs threated in the bottom half of the 7th, adding one run and bringing the tying run to the plate, but a pop up ended the comeback and dropped the Dogs to 0-1 on the season.  On the mound, seniors Logan Kabrich and Landon Hall and juniors Garrett Copley and Sam Hughes combined for 7 innings pitched with 8 strikeouts and only 1 walk.  They only allowed 1 earned run of the 5 and gave up 6 hits.  At the plate, seniors Tyler Bireley and Cameron Martin and sophomore Michael Oliger all recorded multi-hit games and brought in an RBI.  The Bulldogs will open up HCC play against Avon this week.
