Bulldogs Blank Tigers

The Bulldogs opened up there conference series with an exciting 2-0 victory last night over Fishers.  Logan Kabrich pitched a complete game gem in a pitching duel that saw very few hits and some flawless defense.  After a quick scoreless first the Bulldogs got to two outs in the bottom of the second and it looked like the Fishers Tigers were going to work out of the inning; however, Cameron Martin reached on walk, got to second on a passed ball and scored on a big two-out RBI double by senior Jake Smith to bring the score to 1-0.  Kabrich worked two more scoreless innings to take the game to the bottom of the fourth when Charlie Brewer reached on a two-out double to left and was brought in on another RBI double, this time by Martin, to bring the score to 2-0 after 4.  Offensively, the rest of the game was pretty tame, the Bulldogs threatened a few times after hits from Tyler Bireley and Kabrich, but were unable to bring any runs across.  Defensively, the Bulldogs continued to shine.  Kabrich threw three more scoreless innings to complete the game with a shutout, but he was given a huge helping hand with some incredible defensive plays by Jake Smith, Luis Escalante, Greg Hughes and Brandon Reid.  The Bulldogs move to 7-2 (3-1 HCC) and will head up to Fishers tonight for game two of the series and will be back at home on Saturday at 11am for the final game.
