Boys and Girls Track Compete at West Lafayette Relays

Boys and Girls Track Compete at West Lafayette Relays

Saturday, the Girls Track team participated in the West Lafayette Relays.  It was tough day for the ladies who finished 10th out of 13 teams.  Highlights on the day were the shuttle hurdle crew of Rocky Sulkoske, Kerry Devney, Jolori Schafer, and Sibong Ncube, and the 4x1600 crew of Sydney Lesko, Rachel Smith, KJ Gaerke, and Laura Bess.  The hurdlers finished 2nd and the 4x16 finished 3rd!

The boys' track squad was in action Saturday at the West Lafayette relays, although we did not have our A-game.  The team result was very disappointing, but there were a few gems in the rough on the day. Freshman miler Mark Bond turned in an inspiring performance by passing five runners on the last lap to finish an impressive third-place with a time of 4 minutes and 49 seconds! Jack Reed wasn't far behind, crossing the line in 5 minutes, 8 seconds. Another strong performance was turned in by shot putter Chris Stowers, earning him a podium finish in a very competitive field, and freshman Jack Thomas had an 11 second personal record in the 3200 m run.
