SECTIONAL CHAMPIONS!
PLAINFIELD - SEMI-FINAL
On Friday Brownsburg played Plainfield for the chance to compete for a Sectional championship in the opening semifinal game. The host Quakers gave the Dogs quite a fight, rallying from every deficit to tie the game going into the fourth quarter. The Dogs were able to turn up their defense and make free throws down the stretch for a 64-54 victory and a spot in the Sectional championship game. The Bulldogs were very solid in only committing 4 turnovers and going 16-19 from the foul line. The Dogs had great contributions from all who played in holding off a senior loaded Plainfield team set on reaching the finals themselves. It was a great team win for the Dogs and put them in position to win their third sectional in 4 years
TERRE HAUTE SOUTH - FINAL
Saturday evening, Brownsburg played Terre Haute South for right to represent sectional 12 in the regional. Both teams have had a great year and while the Dogs beat the Braves during the regular season, it was the Braves who rushed out to a 20-11 lead after one quarter of play. The Dogs responded with a huge second quarter outscoring the Braves 29-8 to take a 12 point halftime lead. Senior Landon Hall had the hot hand in the third quarter as the Dogs expanded their lead. However, the Braves mounted a comeback chipping away at the lead. Brownsburg missed a few free throws early in the fourth quarter but settled down and maintained a 10 point lead until a few Terre Haute baskets in the last seconds trimmed the lead to a final 83-78 win for the Dogs. It was Brownsburg's third Sectional Championship in four years and capped a great winter sports season for Brownsburg where all the teams won their respective sectional championships. The Dogs could not be a better definition of team as all 17 players have been listed on the post season roster and contributed in the most positive way. Your Brownsburg Sectional Champions are: Seniors Landon Hall & Packard Rozzi; Juniors Antrez Baker, Kyle Wolf, Kris Jackson, Damon Craig, Ryan Porath, SeVonte Sumpter Bey, and Derek Linville; Sophomores Reis Thomas, Cameron Alford, Gunnar Reffeitt, Richard Lang, Seth Harley and Tyler Nolan; Freshmen Malek Edmonds and Connor Lucas
