Bulldogs Drop Out of Sectional Play

Bulldogs Drop Out of Sectional Play

The varsity girls' tennis team lost a fiercely contested sectional match against Plainfield by a 3-2 score.  Katie Bullock played a very talented player at number one singles and did her job of keeping her player on court and making her earn the win.  Victoria Stevens had another great night of tennis and put quite a bit of fear in her competitor across the net.  And, number three singles player, Nicole Weisman, made her opponent sweat through a very long match (5-7, 4-6) with unbelievably long and well-played points.  Both doubles duos pulled in the points for the Bulldogs.  The number two doubles team of Laura Smith and Blake Stayrook played one of the best matches of their career with complete domination from the first point played.  Their opponents had absolutely no answer to their outstanding play!  The number one doubles tandem of Natalie Weisman and Emily Doehrman pulled out a three-setter with a near-perfect final set.  Weisman/Doehrman remain undefeated in sectional play and will advance into the Individual Doubles Tournament next week at Ben Davis.  The varsity team finished with a 9-6 record and really put it together in the final week to compete at a high level at conference and sectionals. Congratulations, lady tennis 'Dogs!  And, good luck to Natalie and Emily in doubles!  Thanks again to all of the fans who came out and supported our girls.
